A digital transportation exchange needs real-time information to flow from people and machines who produce data, to other people and machines who need to use it. This flow of data needs to be intelligent and frictionless. This is why, conceptually, we think of DTE as a collection of these key elements - Cloud data. With so many disparate participants, the only possible common fabric is the cloud - Open Platforms, not ...more »
New Ways of Doing Business, New Tools...
I suggest you...Look into utize corporate sponsorship to provide regular maintenance on bridges or pre-existing structures where a traffic safety message could be placed. Keeping motorist focused on good driving behavior is the guidance that every highway user needs.
In the past, the federal government has had industrial competitions to improve energy efficiency (refrigerators, for example). How about similar competitions to improve our infrastructure technology. For example, we still repave roads with asphalt, which deteriorates pretty rapidly, especially when subjected to freeze/thaw cycles in the Northeast. This technology has not changed in generations! Can't we improve the ...more »
I suggest you look at a promising new technology from a company in Israel called "Innowattech" They have recently been awarded a multi million dollar contract in Italy to install a system into a highway that converts mechanical energy into electricity. The system uses what is called "Piezo Electric Generators" that are placed under the surface of the road way. The generators converts the motion of passing vehicles into ...more »
In these difficult economic times it is exceedingly important for the public to save and be watchful of where we spend. For several years now, I've ridden the commuter bus into the Capitol for work, rather than drive. With so many new riders the commuter bus lines are full to the point of bursting. Something really needs to be done to increase the lines and offer alternatives to driving. Some days I do ride in either ...more »
Here's an idea to cut gas consumption and decrease highway deaths:
Create train routes for passenger vehicles that connect major US cities (i.e. pull your car up to the terminal, pay a fee, drive onto the train, wait for your stop, drive off).
Simple. Just wanted to share. Keep up the great work!
I recently attended the Future of Aviation Advisory Committee meeting and submitted a comment package about my flying car project to Secy. Kurland.
I suggest DOT support development of the project, possibly via RITA.
Bicycling is free, makes people healthier and doesn't rely on oil. Bicycling should be a major priority for the DOT. A national system of bike routes ought to be built.
why don't airline's use V-22 Osprey's for commercial use they are perfect for small airports that are in small cities like Danbury, CT they would be perfect for area's like that. They would only be for shuttle use between that small airport and the major airport such as JFK, Westchester, or LGA
The government should consider recycling its used electronic equipment with reputable American vendors as private firms do. There are vendors that reclaim precious metals, lead, glass, electronic components, and plastics (to name a few items), sell these commodities on the open market, and share the income with the provider. Some will even destroy computer disk drives at the request of the provider. This substantial income ...more »
There are many ways to generate electricity. To name just a few that we know we have dynamo(use for bicycles), turbine being turned by water, solar cell using sun lights, battery being recharged by alternator as in car and many more that created pollution problem. But here is a new potential sources of lights: vehicles headlights that can probably be trapped or tapped using fiberoptics or present day technology. This ...more »
Vis-a-vis Google - Allow DOT employees 10-20% of their weekly schedule to work on innovative projects and ideas. These novel solutions could be used to generate participation from entrepreneurs and non-profits, thus generating more income.
